19 July 2026, Samarkand. Air Marakanda, the ground handling operator of Samarkand International Airport, has announced its operational results for the first half of 2026.

Between January and June 2026, Samarkand International Airport served 759,241 passengers and handled 5,912 arriving and departing flights.

As in previous years, international routes accounted for the majority of passenger traffic. The most popular destinations were Moscow, Istanbul, and St. Petersburg. During the reporting period, the airport served 720,863 passengers on international flights, while 38,378 passengers travelled on domestic routes.

During the same period, the airport's passenger terminal processed 87,273.1 kg of cargo.

In addition to its operational performance, AIR MARAKANDA continued implementing projects aimed at the digitalization of operational processes and strengthening the protection of its information infrastructure during the first half of 2026.

As part of the "365 Days Without an Incident" programme, the company developed and commissioned its own information system for recording and monitoring aviation occurrences and incidents. The solution enables centralized data collection, safety performance analysis, and improves the effectiveness of preventive safety measures.

Another major milestone in the airport's digital transformation was the implementation of the Baggage Reconciliation System (BRS) — an automated baggage reconciliation and tracking solution. The system has been deployed in compliance with the requirements of ICAO Annex 17, ICAO Doc 8973, ECAC Doc 30, and IATA Resolution 753, which regulate mandatory reconciliation of checked baggage with passengers and baggage tracking throughout all key handling stages. The implementation has improved baggage tracking accuracy, strengthened baggage handling control, and ensured that Samarkand International Airport complies with current international standards in aviation security and ground handling quality.

AIR MARAKANDA remains committed to introducing advanced digital solutions and continuously improving passenger services while maintaining full compliance with international airport management standards.
