18 March 2025, Samarkand. Air Marakanda organised a social initiative to celebrate the third anniversary of the new terminal of Samarkand International Airport, aimed at supporting low-income and large families.
As part of the initiative, the company's management visited the Branch of SOS Children's Villages of Uzbekistan Association in Samarkand. A festive show programme with the participation of animators was held for the children, and their families were given food packages.
A themed photo zone was also set up in the airport terminal where passengers and guests could capture memorable moments. On the eve of the Navruz holiday, all visitors were treated to a traditional spring delicacy - sumalyak.
Air Marakanda CEO Ulugbek Shamsikulov emphasised:
‘We are happy to celebrate the third anniversary since the opening of the new terminal of Samarkand International Airport not only with our passengers, but also with the people of the city. Supporting families who need help is an important part of our social responsibility. We strive not only to develop aviation infrastructure, but also to contribute to the well-being of society.’
Air Marakanda is the first private company in the history of aviation in Uzbekistan to operate an international airport on a public-private partnership basis. Since 1 June 2022, when Air Marakanda took over management of the terminal, Samarkand International Airport has regularly broken its own records. Over 3 million passengers have been served during this period, confirming the air harbour's sustainable development and growth.
