February 8, 2024, Samarkand. Samarkand International Airport has entered the TOP 5 most dynamically developing airports in terms of passenger growth rates in the rating of the European division of Airports Council International (ACI Europe).
The industry association ACI Europe has published an annual report in which it presented data on passenger traffic at Eurasian airports. By the end of 2023, Samarkand Airport took the 3rd place in its category (from 100 thousand to 1 million passengers per year) with an increase of 109.8% compared to the same period in 2019.
Recall that in 2023, Samarkand International Airport exceeded the 1 million mark for the first time in its history and served 1,010,938 passengers, which is 104.9% or 517,521 more passengers than in the record year 2022.
Currently, Air Marakanda, which operates the new terminal of Samarkand International Airport, actively cooperates with 24 airlines and flights to 18 destinations are operated from Samarkand Airport, 16 of which are international and 2 domestic.
