Samarkand International Airport (SKD/UTSS) celebrated solemnly its first anniversary of the opening of the terminal.

The airport terminal is equipped with the latest technology, services for the comfort and safety of clients, including E-gates and the ability to use self-check-in services. According to SkyTrax, it was included in the top ten best airports in Central Asia and joined the Airports Council International (ACI Europe).

Recently, Samarkand International Airport has received for the first time the Kuwaiti airline Jazeera Airways, which connects Uzbekistan with the city of Kuwait and the wider Persian Gulf region, and from March 18, direct flights to Almaty will be resumed, which will be provided by the Kazakh air carrier FlyArystan. In the near future, it is planned to launch flights of the Russian low-cost airline Pobeda to Moscow. To date, international airlines such as Turkish Airlines, Fly Dubai, Azerbaijan Airways and Wizz Air already operate their regular flights from Samarkand.

Air Marakanda is the first private company in the history of Uzbek aviation to operate the International Airport on the basis of a public-private partnership.
