Air Marakanda, company which operates Samarkand International Airport, has become a Silver Member of the European Office of Airports Council International ACI EUROPE, which is the only global organization of airport operators. Currently, ACI Europe represents the interests of more than 500 airports in 55 countries. ACI member airports handle 90% of commercial air traffic in the European region — 2.3 billion passengers, 18.4 million tons of cargo, 21.2 million flights annually.

The priority areas of ACI’s activities are interaction with legislative and regulatory bodies, the formation of sectoral policy and the exchange of information in order to bring the interests of the organization’s members to IATA, ICAO, the European Commission, Eurocontrol and other international and national organizations.
ACI EUROPE promotes the exchange of best airport management practices, operational and technological know-how through organizational links and an extensive program of conferences and exhibitions. Through active collaboration with airports, ACI develops common policies that provide guidance to the aviation industry as a whole.
ACI EUROPE carries out extensive work on the issues of airport capacity, airport fees and ground handling rates, slot coordination and scheduling, airport competition, flight safety, aviation security, protection of air passenger rights, environmental protection.
Membership in the Airport Council International ACI EUROPE is an important step for Samarkand Airport and for the company that manages it, Air Marakanda. This provides great opportunities and motivation for the further active development of our airport in all areas of aviation activity.
