As part of the expansion of its international route network, Air Samarkand, Samarkand's base carrier, launched a direct flight service between Samarkand and Tel Aviv on May 4.
A solemn ceremony on the occasion of launching a new direction for the airline was held in the terminal of Samarkand International Airport. The event was attended by Air Samarkand PR Director Oleg Ivanov and Air Marakanda Ground Handling Director Aziz Nasriyev. Memorable gifts and refreshments were prepared for the passengers of the first flight.
“The opening of Air Samarkand flights to Tel Aviv is an important step in expanding the international route network of the airport. This project was realized thanks to the initiative and professional work of the airline with the support of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the Embassy of our country in Israel, with which we have been closely cooperating since 2022. Thanks to its assistance, today we can proudly say that the Samarkand - Tel Aviv route is served by two carriers, which contributes to the development of tourism, pilgrimage trips and business ties between Uzbekistan and Israel”, - said General Director of Air Marakanda LLC Ulugbek Shamsikulov.
The aircraft, which arrived from Tel Aviv, was welcomed with a water arch at the airfield of Samarkand airport according to aviation tradition.
The flights will be operated every Sunday, with departure from Samarkand - 6:00. Travel time is about 5.5 hours. From July 2025, due to growing demand, the airline plans to increase the frequency of flights to twice a week.
It is worth noting that the base carrier also operates regular direct flights from Samarkand to Istanbul and Jeddah.
